U-Haul owns more than 44 million square feet of storage space
July 3, 2019: U-Haul Moving & Storage of Framingham-Southborough will soon open a temporary showroom in Framingham, offering truck rentals and moving and packing supplies. The company will convert the former 93,088-square-foot MetroWest Place office building into 600 indoor, climate-controlled storage units. Once the 93,088-square-foot space is renovated, it will include more than 600 indoor climate-controlled self-storage units with high-tech security features at affordable price points.
“U-Haul will be converting the shell of this five-story office building into a modern self-storage and retail facility. Commercial properties have been stagnating. We don’t want to see this building remain vacant and become an eyesore in this community.” Said by Scott Chase, President of the U-Haul Co. of Eastern Massachusetts.
The recent acquisition of the property was driven by U-Haul Corporate Sustainability initiatives. which support infill development to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. U-Haul has completed dozens of conversion projects in recent years.
